My OWN wedding flowers!

Pin It Now!
So... this is a really long post. And totally self indulgent, but I don't really care! It's just for fun, this blogging thing, and it is MY blog, so I guess I can post what I want right? :)

The hubby and I just celebrated 5 years... FIVE whole years. I can't believe it's been that long. Maybe it's the second baby, or friends and family getting married, I don't know, I've just been feeling sentimental... and I thought I should share my own wedding flowers with the floral blogging universe. We had a very rustic, elegant (if canned beer isn't elegant, then what is?)... ranch wedding outside my hometown. Very dear to my heart, "the county" as we like to call it... The Clover Cliff Ranch in the Flint Hills, Chase County, Kansas.

Note my pretty hair. A little too highlighted for today's liking, but hey, it was five years ago okay?

My flower girls carried an herbal wreath in honor of my mom... rosemary is the herb that signifies remembrance, and I wanted to do something special for her. She was most definitely there with us in spirit that day... just look at this scenery, below:

So many awesome memories... but there is so much that you don't see in these photos. This is simply because I didn't have room, and I wanted to concentrate on the floral aspect of my wedding because this is indeed a floral design blog! Funny, I wouldn't have changed a thing... it was the best day of our lives before these girls came along!

Hot Pink and Lime Green!

Pin It Now!
Some super-fabulous blooms from Molly's July wedding... here's her gorgeous bouquet in hot pinks and vivid greens. These are gerbera daisies (with black centers, as her girls were wearing black gowns!)... green bupleurum, vivid green hydrangea, green hypericum berries, fuschia stock, and peonies! Yes, that's right, more peonies! I found them at the farmer's market the morning of her wedding. Yeah, in July. I know, you're shocked, so am I. Am I talking to anyone but myself here? :)

A closer-up shot. Held by the wonderful wedding planner Melissa Walton, (she came and picked Molly's flowers up to help them save a little money from the budget!)... she's wearing black so the flowers pop perfectly!!!

A hot pink dendrobium bout... accent of green hypericum berry, green ribbon wrapped stem.

And last but not least, the very charming flower girl buckets! How cute are these? Super inexpensive and a great alternative if your church doesn't allow petal tosses! Also, these are WAY cuter for photographs than a basket with just petals...

Everyone please note Melissa's beautiful manicure. A floral designer's hands NEVER look like that. Sad but true! :)

Hot Pinks and Aqua...

Pin It Now! Lots of pretty pics from Kelli's wedding on the 28th. She chose a lovely shade of "pool" for her girls and ran with a hot pink theme for the flowers from that. Note the really pretty table runner on all of the tables to bring that color into play at the reception... obviously aqua isn't a big flower color, so it's important to find it in other details!

Above, a bridesmaid's bouquet. Sorry these pics are a little out of order!

Below, the absolutely gorgeous cake by

It smelled amazing and looked beautiful too, as always. :)

My favorite, the carnation wreaths on the door to the charming church. This is a reasonable way to get a really lush and beautiful effect... even carnations can be made into something beautiful if they are used appropriately!
